What’s On Your List? By Tim Hodson

Is the Chelsea Flower Show one of those things that has always been on your bucket list but you’ve always found a reason not to go?

Well here’s your opportunity to cross it off the list.

Cornell University’s Long Island Horticultural Research & Extension Center is organizing a trip to the Chelsea Flower Show and gardens of London next May 17-24, as a fundraiser for the Student Internship Fund at the Center. Cornell’s recently named Fulbright Scholar Dr. Mark Bridgen and his wife, Margot, will be the guides during the trip.

The main highlight of the trip is a Members-Only tour of the Chelsea Flower Show on May 20, where participants will enjoy full access to the Flower Show. Another highlight of this tour is a day at the majestic Hampton Court Palace where you will explore one of Britain’s most important historic buildings. Another day will be spent at the 300-acre Royal Botanic Garden at Kew and home to one of the world’s great plant collections.

Visits are also planned to Windsor Castle and Wisley Gardens, the flagship garden of the Royal Horticultural Society. Additional stops on the tour include Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, and Westminster Abbey.

Here’s your chance to cross Chelsea Flower Show off the bucket list and more!

You can find additional details about the trip by going to www.LongIslandHort.cornell.edu and clicking on EVENTS or contacting Dr. Bridgen at mpb27@cornell.edu.
