Time to Start Forgetting
As the winter of 2014-15 finally begins to come to an end, it’s time to start thinking about spring cleaning projects home improvement retailer Lowe’s is!
The company recently announced that Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers plan to visit the “10 Bleakest Cities of 2015” in the coming weeks to complete makeover projects and help them forget about this winter.
These 10 cities were selected because according to the Accumulated Winter Season Severity Index (AWSSI) they were the hardest hit by this winter.
Members of the Lowe’s Heroes program will visit these cities to complete spring projects like installing new landscaping, building outdoor rooms, painting and improving the overall curb appeal where Old Man Winter really left his mark.
The 10 cities where Lowe’s volunteers will be doing the makeovers include : Boston, Massachusetts; Buffalo, New York; Detroit, Michigan; Hartford, Connecticut; Louisville, Kentucky; Nashville, Tennessee; Newark, New Jersey; New York City; Portland, Maine; and Providence, Rhode Island.
“The data doesn’t lie this has been one of the harshest winters in recent history and people are more than ready to shed the snow shovels and welcome spring,” said Steve Hilberg, senior climatologist/meteorologist for the Midwestern Regional Climate Center at the University of Illinois and a collaborator of the AWSSI.
