GPN’s Plant Health Management Webinar Looks at PGRs
Would you like to increase your knowledge of plant growth regulators so you can grow healthier and more profitable plants?
Would you like your production team to know more about what PGRs are, how they work and what they can do for your crops?
As many growers already know, plant growth regulators can be one of their best production tools or one of their worst mistakes. That’s why GPN’s second Plant Health Management webinar will address this complex subject.
The webinar, “Proper Use of Plant Growth Regulators,” will take place Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. eastern time.
The webinar will be presented by industry expert Roger Styer of Styer’s Horticultural Consulting, Inc.
Styer has been helping growers across North America be more successful with all aspects of growing ornamentals for more than 30 years.
During the free one-hour webinar, participants will learn the basics of commonly used growth regulators, how to apply them, and how to adjust for vigor of crops and weather conditions.
Styer also will present examples of how growers can successfully use different growth control products, from plugs to poinsettias, to properly control crop growth. Participants will also learn which growth regulators to use when, how much to use and how often to apply, and how to overcome overdoses.
So if you are looking for answers to your PGR questions, then this webinar is for you!
Nov. 29 is the date and 2 p.m. eastern is the time — but why wait?

Fuel Cells Helps Energize Home Depot Stores
The Home Depot continues to shrink its carbon footprint by installing fuel cells to power nearly 150 of the chain’s stores. Fuel cell technology has helped the company reduce it electricity costs by 15 to 20 percent at those stores and cut carbon dioxide emission by 50 million pounds over the last two years — the equivalent of taking 4,800 cars off of the road. Home Depot plans to install the green technology in approximately 50 more stores in the coming months.
Class is in Session at Wal-Mart
Last month, Wal-Mart opened its first training academy in New Jersey as the retailer celebrated its 25th anniversary in the Garden State. Wal-Mart Academies are dedicated facilities located in, or adjacent to, a Wal-Mart supercenter where supervisors and department managers receive two weeks of hands-on training that combines both the classroom and sales floor. Wal-Mart also has created a new, end-to-end training program called Pathways for associates at all levels of store operations.
