Poinsettia Zone
Once again, GPN brings you the industry's most complete coverage of last year's poinsettia trials - from culture points to classifications and everything in between. The information on the 2004 new cultivars, located in the Poinsettia Cultivar Spotlight, is derived from the National Poinsettia Trials held at University of Florida, North Carolina State University and Purdue University. The coordinators of these trials, Drs. Jim Barrett, John Dole and Allen Hammer, respectively, have written evaluations of the cultivars to be introduced during the 2004 growing season, with recommendations about which cultivars are right for mass or independent markets or Northern or Southern growers. The best cultivar for an individual grower varies with location, production practices and markets. There are many poinsettia cultivars that can be grown successfully when the grower is very familiar with the cultivar and can provide the required culture for that cultivar. To help growers make these decisions we once again present the Poinsettia Zone, bringing together all of the Poinsettia information contained in the site. We have done the searching for you! Also offered is a list of FAQs, web exclusive information not previously presented in the magazine, and our "Ask the Experts" area. Enjoy the Poinsettia Zone, your comments and suggestions are encouraged! Tim Hodson, Editor (847) 391-1019 thodson@sgcmail.com
