AFE Elects New TrusteesSource: The American Floral Endowment

The American Floral Endowment has recently elected three new trustees to serve three-year terms on its Board of Trustees. Paul Bachman, Bachman’s Inc., Minneapolis, Minn.; David Niklas, Clackamas Greenhouses, Aurora, Ore.; and Ernesto Velez, Asocolflores, Bogota, Colombia have been elected to serve on the Board. Since its founding in 1961 over $12 million has been distributed to support research and educational programs throughout the floral industry. All trustees serve at their own expense.

In fiscal year 2005, the Endowment is supporting 10 scientific research projects at universities across the United States and is currently defining objectives for significant upcoming consumer research.

Additionally, the Vic and Margaret Ball Internship Program awarded five scholarships to students who are interested in production internships. The Mosmiller Scholarship awarded four scholarships to students who are interested in retail internships. The Endowment also awarded six educational grants.

The American Floral Endowment is a not-for-profit corporation that raises and prudently invests funds to support production and market research and education programs to benefit the floriculture industry. Over the past 43 years, generous contributions from every segment of the industry have enabled the Endowment to invest over $12 million to help find solutions to industry needs.
