All-America Selections Unveils Grower Programs and Printed Containers
In advance of the 2014 season, All-America Selection (AAS) is showcasing its perennials, tomato and pepper and container edibles programs along with rolling out AAS printed containers.
The perennials program features six previous AAS winners from varying years that were tested and trialed in more than 25 different locations throughout North America. These perennials are:
- Rudbeckia hirta ‘Cherokee Sunset’ (2002)
- Rudbeckia hirta ‘Prairie Sun’ (2003)
- Echinacea ‘PowWow Wild Berry’ (2010)
- Gaillardia ‘Mesa Yellow’ F1 (2010)
- Gaillardia ‘Arizona Apricot’ (2011)
- Echinacea ‘Cheyenne Spirit’ (2013)
The tomato and pepper program includes nine delicious edibles and proven garden performers, featuring both recent AAS winners and some classics. The plants are:
- Pepper ‘Cajun Belle’ (2010)
- Pepper ‘Orange Blaze’ F1 (2011)
- Pepper ‘Cayenetta’ F1 (2012)
- Tomato ‘Lizzano’ F1 (2011)
- Tomato ‘Jasper’ F1 (2013)
- Tomato ‘Terenzo’ (2011)
- Pepper ‘Carmen’ F1 (2006)
- Pepper ‘MexiBell’ F1 (1988)
- Tomato ‘Big Beef’ F1 (1994)
- Tomato ‘Husky Gold’ F1 (1993)
Eight off AAS’s best-selling edibles complete its container edibles program that are not only delcious but provide an ornamental quality as well. These varieties are:

- Tomato ‘Terenzo’ (2011)
- Tomato ‘Lizzano’ (2011)

AAS now offers printed containers in either 1 quart or 2.5 quart sizes. The red, white and blue pots are from Summit Plastic to feature AAS winners. Mock-ups can be viewed at either the AAS or Summit booths at the OFA Short Course. All orders must be placed by Sept. 15, 2013.
