The American Nursery and Landscape Association (ANLA) and the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) recently sent a joint-letter to Senators Frist (R-TN) and Snowe (R-ME) calling for the immediate consideration and confirmation of Steven Preston as the new Administrator of the Small Business Administration.

“We commend President Bush for nominating Mr. Preston as the new Administrator for the Small Business Administration,” said John Farner, director of legislative relations for ANLA. “I’m confident that Mr. Preston will continue the President’s work in implementing policies that allow small businesses the ability to compete and succeed in our continually growing economy.”

Preston currently serves as the executive vice president of The ServiceMaster Company, whose service capabilities include lawn care and landscape maintenance, termite and pest control, plumbing, heating and air conditioning maintenance and repair, appliance maintenance and repair, cleaning and furniture maintenance, and home warranties.

“The green industry is proud of what Mr. Preston has accomplished over the years at ServiceMaster,” said Tom Delaney, director of government relations for PLANET. “We take comfort in knowing that he will continue his success and strong leadership at the Small Business Administration.”
