AFE Names New Board Member

John Henry, a Multi Packaging Solutions Company, announced that Kristi Huffman, senior vice president of the Horticultural Division, has accepted a position on the American Floral Endowment Board of Directors. Huffman’s appointment continues John Henry’s history of active participation on the AFE Board of Directors over the years.

The American Floral Endowment is the leading U.S. non-governmental, not-for-profit source of funding for floriculture research and development. Their mission is to further the advancement of science and education in the field of floriculture through on-going industry research, published studies, academic scholarships and internships for students interested in floriculture.

Buberl to Lead BASF Specialty Products Division

BASF North American Crop Protection announces the appointment of Jan Buberl to head the organization’s Specialty Products Division effective Oct. 1, 2009. The division comprises three businesses: Professional Pest Control Solutions, Professional Turf & Ornamentals and Professional Vegetation Management.

Buberl has been with BASF for 13 years, most recently in the Crop Protection business as country manager for Spain and Portugal. His experience with the company also includes posts in global marketing, herbicides; marketing for specialty crops; and a position in global marketing for fungicides at the BASF global headquarters of Limburgerhof, Germany.

Aris Adds to Sales Team

Terry Berger has joined the Aris Horticultural Services sales team. Berger’s sales territory includes Washington; Oregon; and British Columbia, Canada.

Berger has worked in the industry for more than 25 years in greenhouse production, marketing and management, most recently as sales and marketing manager at Henry’s Plant Farm in Snohomish, Wash. He is the former owner of Just for Starters Greenhouse. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Plymouth State College in Plymouth, N.H.
