Bailey Nurseries Consolidates Operations in IowaSource: Bailey Nurseries

After being bought by Bailey Nurseries in 1984, the Charles City, Iowa-based Sherman Nursery continued operating independently as a wholesale supplier of fine nursery stock.

However, Bailey Nurseries, based in Newport, Minn., recently decided to consolidate various aspects of Sherman’s operations into Bailey Nurseries. The consolidation process will run through June 2009.

Production operations will remain in Charles City, Iowa, and will be renamed Bailey Nurseries, Sherman Division.

“For well over a century, the employees of Sherman have given their customers quality plants and superior service, setting the highest standard for Bailey Nurseries to uphold,” said Terri McEnaney, president of Bailey Nurseries.

Sherman Nursery President David Fuchs sees the consolidation as an opportunity: “We are confident this change will result in growth opportunities for our nationwide customers. The Bailey organization has a strong commitment to their employees and customers, the quality of their products and the entire green industry,” Fuchs said.
