Calibrachoa

April 26, 2011 - 23:00

A Simply Beautiful selection, Cabaret calibrachoa features rich two-toned colors that make striking mixed and mono plantings. These varieties put on a great show at retail, staying open and in flower even under low light conditions.
Uniform and dark green–leafed Cabaret produces well-branched, mounded and trailing plants with full centers and abundant blooms. These early-blooming plants are bred to tolerate cool temperatures. Foliage will stay green for an extended period of time under high pH, so plants look healthy all season.
Cooler air temperatures and high light will reduce or eliminate any need for plant growth regulators. Maintain pH at 5.2 to 5.8 to optimize plant health. Crop times will be shortest as days lengthen in spring. Apply preventative broad-spectrum fungicide drench early (seven to 10 days after transplant). Avoid saturated media and excessive feed levels.
Use B-Nine (daminozide) at 2,500 to 5,000 ppm, Bonzi (paclobutrazol) at 3 to 8 ppm, or Florel (ethephon) at 300 to 500 ppm applied one time up to three times for large baskets to maintain habit as needed.
