Color Star Growers to Lease Space from Ellison’s GreenhousesSource: Ellison's Greenhouses

On Jan.1, Ellison’s Greenhouses in Brenham, Texas, will turn over its greenhouses to Color Star Growers.

“We have leased space to Color Star for the past few years,” said owner P.J. Ellison Kalil, “and find them to be a great partner. They have the knowledge, resources and team to continue to be successful.”

However, because Color Star is strictly a wholesale operation, the retail, tourism and post office currently located at Ellison’s will be discontinued on Jan. 1.

“We are pleased that the town location will remain as a greenhouse operation,” said Jim Ellison, co-founder with his wife Ellen of the company. “Ellison’s has been a tremendous asset to the community, the industry and the state of Texas for over 43 years and as a corporation will continue to remain viable.”

“The operation as it is has served its purpose and done it very well,” said Ellison’s daughter, PJ Ellison Kalil. “I really feel like this was meant to be, regardless how emotional it is. I don’t feel that doors close without other ones opening.”

Ellison Kalil said part of the agreement with Color Star is “to keep the team members that we have, other than me.”

Ellison’s will still host its 22nd annual Poinsettia Celebration on Nov. 17 and 18.

Barring something unforeseen, it will be the last one, said Ellison Kalil. “Our greatest hope is that we end with a bang for everybody,” she said.
