Sunny Border Nurseries Inc. announced that David Culp, vice president of sales and marketing, has been selected to receive the 2014 Garden Media Award from the Perennial Plant Association.

Sunny Border Nurseries Inc. announced that David Culp, vice president of sales and marketing, has been selected to receive the 2014 Garden Media Award from the Perennial Plant Association.

This award is given each year to an individual whose educational and promotional efforts have increased awareness of perennials and the perennial industry.

Culp has worked for Sunny Border for more than 22 years and was promoted to vice president in 2011. He has become well-known nationally for his speaking engagements to the trade and to home gardeners.

Culp’s credits include the Distinguished Garden Award from the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Award of Merit. He has been on the planning committee for the Perennial Plant Conference at Scott Arboretum for more than 20 years, as well as being an instructor at Longwood Gardens. In addition, he has made frequent appearances on the Martha Stewart Show as well as guest appearances on various radio and TV networks, including CNN and the Comcast Network. He has also been a contributing editor for Horticulture Magazine and has been published in numerous other national publications, including the New York Times and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The award will be presented on July 29 at the 32nd Perennial Plant Symposium in Cincinnati.
