America in Bloom wants cities and towns across the U.S. to showcase their beautification efforts with a new annual photography contest. The deadline for submissions is Aug. 5, 2014.

America in Bloom (AIB) wants cities and towns across the U.S. to showcase their beautification efforts with a new annual photography contest.

The deadline to submit photos for the AIB contest, with cooperating partnership from Home & Garden Showplace and Monrovia Nursery, is August 5.

Entrants can submit a portfolio of up to 18 photos of their city. Some examples of subjects are floral displays, landscaped areas, urban forestry, environmnetal efforts, heritage preservation and overall impression.

Portfolios may be submitted from interested photographers individually, or from a coordinated effort involving the municipality. Cities will be divided into three population groups:

  • Small city population: Under 50,000
  • Medium city population: 50,001 to 249,999
  • Large city population: Over 250,000

Three $1,500 prizes will be awarded to the individual photographer or group entry, one for each population category.
