Development of Sustainable Standard Continues

April 26, 2009 - 18:10

The next in-person meeting of the standards committee to develop a national standard for sustainable agriculture is scheduled for May 27 and 28 at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Ill. Agenda items include: reports from the task forces and recommendations on their respective charges, discussion of the issues currently on the table and the formation of subcommittees to address each of the issues identified for further exploration.

Observers are invited to attend the meeting, subject to Leonardo Academy's observer provisions.

The Leonardo Academy also is seeking applications for three vacant seats on the standards committee’s “User” Interest category. Individuals or representatives of entities that use agricultural products — including retailers, product handlers, processors, distributors and manufacturers — are encouraged to apply. Individuals who have previously submitted applications for this interest category also will be considered.

Applications are available on the Leonardo Academy website and must be submitted by noon CST on Monday, May 11.

If you have questions or are interested in attending the next committee meeting, either in-person or remotely, contact Amanda Raster at or (608) 280-0255.
