Dummen and Plantpeddler Shift Gears

November 19, 2004 - 12:32

Plantpeddler, the Cresco, Iowa-based company has announced a change in the partnership between Plantpeddler Inc. and Dummen of Germany. On Nov. 15, 2004, the administrative offices for Dummen USA moved headquarters from Plantpeddler to Hilliard, Ohio. This change will allow each company to focus on their vision of the industry and future direction.

Plantpeddler will remain the sole rooting station for Dummen USA in 2005, continuing to focus on delivering clean, high-quality, consistent products. Plantpeddler will stand behind all Red Fox RC orders that have been placed. Although Plantpeddler will no longer control the administration of URC orders, the staff will work with the new management of Dummen USA to help ensure order fulfillment. It is the goal of Plantpeddler to work in the best interest of growers and brokers during the transition.

The relationship between Plantpeddler and Dummen Germany formed three and half years ago, resulting in dynamic exposure, growth and increase in market share for the Dummen Red Fox genetics. According to Plantpeddler president Mike Gooder, “We are proud of our accomplishments and the team who made it happen!”

At this time Plantpeddler is constructing an additional 100,000 sq.ft. to facilitate continued growth, which is still planned. An expanded line of young plants, pre-finished and finished products in elite genetics from leading and emerging breeders will be available from Plantpeddler.

As for the future of Plantpeddler, “We don’t have anything set in stone. Because we are a root and sell for Dummen, we are no longer tied specifically to their genetics. We are actively exploring other opportunities with leading breeders,” said Lynn Edler, public relations coordinator at Plantpeddler. “We will continue to offer what Dummen offers as young plants, pre-finished and bump ups, but we will be expanding it and will also be able to offer other genetics as well.
