Floriculture Field Days ApproachingSource: FNGLA

This year’s Floriculture Field Days is set to take place at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center and Fifield Hall on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., on May 16-17, 2007. Hosted by the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA) and the University of Florida, this 2-day event is intended to provide attendees with a variety of opportunities and information in the floriculture industry. Some focus areas include new crops and results from the research of the field trials provided by the university.

There are a variety of events scheduled:

New plant showcase. This session will consist of a fast-paced presentation by experts in the field who will introduce some of the newest plant varieties.

Silent auction. Come prepared with plants to submit as auction items or be ready to bid on your favorites. Opening bids will start on Wednesday morning. Proceeds will benefit Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville, Fla.

Grower sessions. Wednesday sessions include “Propagation of New and Exciting Ornamental Grasses” and “It’s Flower Power! The Latest on Color Production Techniques.” Thursday sessions include “Wild About Wildflowers” and “Let’s Talk About Natives.”
