Gerbera

Big brother to the popular Jaguar gerbera series, Bengal is more vigorous with a bigger plant habit. It works well in large pots — 6-inch, gallons and larger. It is available in six classic colors: Orange, Orange with Eye, Red with Eye, Rose with Eye, Yellow with Eye and White. From transplant to finish, provide 4,000-6,000 foot-candles. Start at 70-72° F for the first two weeks after transplant, and then lower temperature to 65-68° F. A temperature drop of five to 10 degrees for two hours at sunrise can be used to reduce stem elongation.Maintain media pH at 5.5-5.8 and EC at 1.5-2.0. Alternate between wet and medium moisture levels. Allow media to approach medium before irrigating to return to wet level. Adequate dry downs are critical to prevent stunted, distorted growth.A constant feed of 15-5-15 or 17-5-17 fertilizers at 150- to 200-ppm nitrogen is recommended. Under high light conditions, 20-10-20 can be used.
