Hurricane Wilma Estimates High

November 11, 2005 - 10:03

Hurricane Wilma cut a swath through the state of Florida on October 24, 2005, leaving Florida’s nursery and landscape industry reeling from widespread and unprecedented damage to many nursery operations throughout the Southern half of Florida. Preliminary estimates from Hurricane Wilma show $454 million in nursery crop losses and at least $100 million in structural damages. This is in addition to the estimated $370 million in nursery crop losses and $200 million in structural damages caused by Hurricane Katrina, which hit South Florida on August 28, 2005.
