PRECISE Insecticide Receives Approvals on New Label

Agrium Advanced Technologies, which manufactures slow- and controlled-release fertilizers and micronutrient products, recently announced that PRECISE Acephate Greenhouse and Nursery Systemic Insecticide, a granular, controlled-release acephate plant-protection treatment, had received federal and state approvals of its new label.

It is now registered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and 27 states including California, New York, Florida, Oregon and Texas.

PRECISE Acephate is a dry-flowing, encapsulated version of one of the horticulture industry’s most trusted plant-protection treatments. By encapsulating the active ingredient in granular form, PRECISE Acephate minimizes the offensive smell of other acephate products, is safer and easier to handle, and delivers consistent performance.

Myers Industries Acquires Amerikan

The Myers Industries Lawn & Garden Group recently announced that its parent company, Myers Industries, Inc., had acquired the remaining 50 percent interest in a nursery container joint venture, Amerikan, from Florikan. Myers Industries previously acquired 50 percent of the Sebring, Fla.-based operation through its 2007 purchase of ITML Horticultural Products.

The Amerikan operation, with the latest technology for producing blow-molded nursery containers in the Southeast region and manufacturing with 100 percent recycled plastics, will be fully integrated into the Myers Industries Lawn & Garden Group.

“Florida is the second largest floriculture producing state, and this move further reinforces our business optimization program with a focus on customer satisfaction and enhanced service levels,” said Don Thomas, managing director of the Myers Industries Lawn & Garden Group. “We strengthen our ability to better serve both growers and distributors locally in this key region, with quick turnaround and high quality for container solutions and other products vital to the efficiency of their operations.”
