Winners of 2008 Perennials Marketing Contest Announced
Plant Publicity Holland and the Perennial Plant Association recently announced the winners of the 2008 Perennials Marketing Contest. Open to garden centers throughout North America, the contest is an opportunity to promote and showcase creativity in perennial merchandising. The 2008 Grand Prize winner of a trip for two to Holland is Bartlett’s Ocean View Farm www.bartlettsfarm.com, an oceanside garden center in Nantucket, Mass. Bartlett’s award-winning “The Buck Doesn’t Stop Here!” display brilliantly showcased seaside deer-resistant plant material. Seattle-based Swanson’s Nursery www.swansonsnursery.com won second place in the contest with its inspiring “Late Season Perennials” display. Their prize is a complimentary registration for the 2009 Perennial Plant Association Symposium in St. Louis, Mo., scheduled to take place July 19 to 24. Third place was awarded to DeWayne’s Home & Garden Showplace www.dewaynes.com in Selma, N.C., for its “A Monarch’s Retreat” butterfly-garden display. MasterTag Hires New Account Manager
MasterTag recently announced the addition of Kathy Wolper to its team. Wolper will serve as the account manager for the northwestern region comprised of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Alaska. She brings to the position industry-related experience and knowledge. Previously, she worked for Tagawa Greenhouses as a retail-ready sales and key accounts manager. GroLink Welcomes New Sales Rep
GroLink Plant Co. recently announced the addition of Jim Davis, an experienced industry professional, as a sales representative covering New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. Davis comes to GroLink with more than 30 years of experience in the industry as a grower, owner, sales representative and sales manager. In his last position, Davis was the regional sales manager responsible for the southern region of the United States and then the western region. He has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and extension education and a master’s of education in horticulture. As such, Davis possesses a wide range of growing experience from not only a practical aspect but cultural background as well. He is extremely well versed in the production of chrysanthemums.
