MSU Advisor Honored

Susan Gruber, a horticulture adviser at Michigan State University, was recently recognized as this year’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) Outstanding Academic Adviser. She was formally recognized during the CANR Honors Banquet earlier this spring. In accepting her award, Gruber named her undergraduate advisers, Pat Zandstra and Dr. Art Cameron at MSU as her influences.

Cleary Chemical recently announced the addition of three new products to its current offering: Torque, Legend and Affirm.

Torque Fungicide represents the first tebuconazole formulation labeled for turf and ornamental uses. This new, easy mixing water-based suspension formula provides highly effective and long-lasting disease management.

Part of Cleary’s Legacy Line, Legend Turf and Ornamental Fungicide represents a unique chlorothalonil product with Cleary’s Rainkote formulation technology. This water-based suspension provides exceptional plant coverage and sticking powers for a variety of turf and ornamental uses.

Affirm Turf and Ornamental Fungicide represents a new 11.3% polyoxin D formulation. This easy-mixing formula now provides the same effective disease management previously developed by Cleary at a lower use rate. “This will be a huge benefit to the many applicators that tank mix products on a regular basis,” said Rick Fletcher, director of product development.

Foremost Co, Inc. and Hawaiian Sunshine Nursery, Inc. announced an exclusive licensing agreement for the production and sales of Kalanchoe thyrisflora ‘Fantastic’ in North America.

Kalanchoe ‘Fantastic’ was introduced by Hawaiian Sunshine Nursery at the TPIE show in January 2010 and received the Favorite New Foliage Plant Award as well as the Retailer’s Choice Award.
