Athens Select Adds Eighth Licensed PropagatorSource: Pen & Petal

The Athens Select Marketing Association recently welcomed Magnolia Gardens Nursery to its group of licensed propagators. The Magnolia, Texas–based nursery produces its liners and containers on approximately 162 acres at three locations, which will help Athens Select respond to market demands in Texas and across the country, according to Allan Armitage, Athens Select founder.

“Adding the Athens Select line to our selection gives us the strength of a time-tested plant brand along with varieties we can be confident will stand up to our tough Texas heat and humidity,” said April Herring, Magnolia Gardens’ production manager.

Founded in 1998, the Athens Select collection is made up of plants chosen for heat and humidity tolerance and uniqueness after rigorous testing in the trial gardens at the University of Georgia. With the addition of Magnolia Gardens Nursery, the Athens Select Marketing Association now includes eight licensed propagators: Buckley Growers, Dupont Nursery, Emerald Coast Growers, EuroAmerican Propagators, Hilltop Greenhouse, James Greenhouses, Les Entreprises Normand Tellier and Magnolia Gardens Nursery.
