Bell Nursery Expands to OhioSource: Bell Nursery

Bell Nursery, based in Burtonsville, Md., recently announced it has acquired Ulery Greenhouse Company. The move marks an expansion for Bell Nursery, who currently supplies plants to Home Depot and others in the mid-Atlantic region. With the acquisition of Ulery Greenhouse Company, Bell will now be able to supply plants to retailers in the Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio areas.

“The Bell business model is well suited to an acquisition of a company like Ulery, which is a well-established and respected business in Central Ohio,” says Gary Mangum of Bell Nursery. “The Ulery physical plant as well as their strong employee base offers a great platform for business expansion. Quality is extremely important, and the Ulery name and heritage are associated with quality production.”

Bryan Ulery of Ulery Greenhouse Company shares Mangum’s excitement over the business move. “Today marks a new chapter for us,” Ulery says. “We are very excited about being part of this and also having the ability to continue to service our entire customer base.”

The Ulery family will maintain an ownership interest and will continue to manage the business under the Bell Nursery name.

“Our merchandising team is excited about brining a new level of service and a new look to each of the stores in our markets,” says Michele Donovan, director of merchandising for Ulery. “The Bell model and resources will be a huge win for our customers that I believe will bring our garden centers to the top in service, quality innovation and value.”
