On March 11, BrightFarms, Inc., announced it has completed the upgrade project at its Bucks County (PA) greenhouse farm, enabling the company to grow local baby greens more efficiently.

The upgraded growing system, which uses deep flow hydroponics, improves quality by reducing handling and streamlining harvesting and post-harvesting. It will also allow BrightFarms to meet increasing demand by planting more densely within the existing greenhouse structure.

The 56,000 sq. ft. greenhouse farm in Lower Makefield Township supplies fresh produce to BrightFarms’ retail partners McCaffrey’s Market and the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company.

“As a local producer, we have close – even personal – relationships with our customers, and we’re eager to satisfy their appetites,” stated BrightFarms CEO Paul Lightfoot. “We look forward to being back on the shelves in April.”
