Changes to the Western Expo
The green industry has a shining opportunity to plant the seeds for future sales at the all-new Garden Market Expo, Sept. 21-22, 2005, in Las Vegas.
The Garden Market Expo is the new name of the California Association of Nurseries and Garden Center’s 34th annual trade show, formerly known as Western Expo. Along with the new name, Garden Market Expo is moving to the 1.5-million-sq.ft. Mandalay Bay Resort and Convention Center, conveniently located on the vibrant Las Vegas Strip.
The Garden Market Expo will invigorate attendees with a non-stop slate of high-energy events such as Business Education Day (held September 20), John Stanley’s International Innovation Center, the Garden Revue fashion show and the Garden Marketplace, where innovative new products and new plant varieties are showcased.
“What has traditionally been a regional trade show is being transformed into an international experience,” said Elaine Thompson, CCN Pro, president of CANGC. “We’re focusing on bringing innovative ideas and products from outside the United States to the Garden Market Expo. We’re broadening the exhibitor base to represent the very latest in lawn and garden, patio, equipment, greenhouse, gifts, accessories, tropical foliage, irrigation, building and construction, plus others.” Garden Market Expo will be held in conjunction with Super Zoo, so exhibitors gain exposure to twice the buying audience, with an estimated combined attendance of 20,000.

- Member rate: $1,000. (Any member of a related statewide nursery or landscape association is eligible for the member rate.)

Attendance. There are 20,000 people anticipated. Expected total includes attendees of Super Zoo, the national trade show of the pet industry, which will co-locate in an adjacent hall.
Buyer profile. Independent nursery and garden centers, home improvement stores, casino/golf/resort industries, landscape architects and many more.
Exhibitors. Super Zoo will include an additional 450-plus exhibitors in an adjacent hall.
Exhibitor profile. Show exhibitors carry amendments, bedding plants, chemicals, container plants, decorations, equipment, fire pits/barbecue supplies, giftware, irrigation supplies, nursery stock, outdoor lighting, patio furniture, pottery, trees and shrubs, and more.
