College Of Knowledge To MeetSource: Michigan State University

The Floriculture College of Knowledge and Business College of Knowledge will be presented at the Michigan Greenhouse Growers Expo in November in Lansing, Mich. The trade fair will take place Nov. 7-8 at the Lansing Center.

The Floriculture and Business College of Knowledge is a series of educational modules that have been developed for greenhouse growers that want to improve their knowledge and skills for career advancement. The courses are taught by faculty members from Michigan State University.

In the Production Track, courses are designed specifically for growers that want to advance their knowledge in growing greenhouse crops but do not have the time to take college courses. The production courses being offered include :

  • temperature management;
  • physiological disorders;
  • hanging basket;
  • potted plants.

The business courses are designed to help growers, managers and owners with managing their employees and improving their marketing and business fundamentals. The four floriculture business courses that will be presented are:

  • marketing;
  • human resource management;
  • financial management;
  • strategic planning.

Enrollees will have the opportunity to mix and match among these eight different courses and select those topics that are most important to them.
