Cornell Announces Floriculture Field DaySource: Cornell University

Cornell University’s annual Floriculture Field Day will feature a morning educational program, afternoon lunch and a guided tour of the annual and perennial trial gardens on July 20 in Ithaca, N.Y.

The morning lineup will include landscapers, gardeners and professionals from the industry. Carmen Johnston, founder of Nectar and Company, will speak about her experience reaching new audiences. Bruce Hellerick of Brickman Group will speak on coloring the landscape. Dan Segal of Plantsmen Nursery will speak on growing 10 native plants. And Bill Miller and Neil Mattson of Cornell University will provide information on plant growth regulators and fertilizers.

The afternoon programs will take place at the Bluegrass Lane trial facility. Allan Armitage, author of numerous books on annuals, perennials and natives, will lead guided tours of the perennial garden.

Events will conclude with an ice cream social and the announcement of the Kathy Pufahl Container Design contest winner.
