Emerald Coast Growers Revamps, Expands In-House Shipping FacilitySource: Emerald Coast Growers

Redesign allows for 50 percent capacity increase, better productivity and enhanced energy efficiency.

Emerald Coast Growers announced it has redesigned and enlarged its in-house shipping facility. The revamp allows the Pensacola, Fla., facility to increase capacity, enhance productivity and improve energy efficiency. “Customers will experience the benefits of this reconfiguration and extension through more efficient product pulling and response, as well as more seamless product flow from order to shipping,” said Cheri Markowitz, sales manager for Emerald Coast Growers. Atlas Manufacturing, BWI Companies and Parris Construction Co. worked with Emerald Coast Growers on the redesign, which involved relocating the truck loading bay, installing a new rollup system and equipping the facility with new electrical fixtures. The revamp also includes a custom-designed three-tier rack system by Atlas Manufacturing. The system holds nearly 9,000 trays, increasing Emerald Coast Growers’ capacity by 50 percent. To help increase energy efficiency, a new double poly inflated roof and shade curtain system were installed. Concrete flooring enables enhanced standards for cleanliness. A new layout and workflow for shipping and receiving helps enhance order turns, better manage labor usage and optimize production. For more information, visit www.ecgrowers.com
