Floranova to Open New Facility in Chile

Floranova announced plans to build a new research station in Chile that will be operational by mid-2016. The current station in Lompoc, California will cease operation this spring so Floranova and Vegetalis will not participate in 2016 California Spring Trials.

Floranova announced plans to build a new research station in Chile in early 2016 that will be operational by mid-2016.

Chile provides a climate and day-length very similar to that experienced in California, enabling plant breeding to be just as effective, the company said.

The current station in Lompoc, California will cease operation as of early spring 2016 and the key California-based research work will transition to the new station in Chile. According to the company, the Lompoc facility requires significant new investment in order to meet the standards required for modern day plant breeding; investing in a completely new site in Chile was deemed more suitable for future research activities, according to a press release.

Due to the ongoing site closure, Floranova and Vegetalis will not participate in California Spring Trials 2016. This is only a short term measure and plans to participate in 2017 California Spring Trials in a new location.

The distribution and sales office in Pierceton, Indiana will continue to operate as usual.
