FPO’s Funding SupportSource: FPO

On April 21, 2006, the Flower Promotion Organization (FPO) Board of Directors received notice from the California Cut Flower Commission (CCFC) that they were discontinuing their commitment for financial support of the FPO due to CCFC’s internal budget considerations and changes in its strategic direction and focus.

Stan Pohmer, FPO executive director, re-affirmed that the FPO has adequate reserve funds and cash flow to continue supporting and funding its existing and on-going programs and commitments, including the FPO/Society of American Florists alliance that is currently conducting research with Harvard University on the benefits of having flowers in both the home and the workplace.

The CCFC funding decision and its implications will be reviewed by the FPO Board of Directors at an upcoming Board meeting.
