Get Your Community Involved in AIBSource: America in Bloom

The America in Bloom registration deadline is coming up quickly: You have until only Feb. 28 to enter!

Towns that participate in the program receive all sorts of benefits, including making the town a better place to live, work, play and visit, and gaining increased civic pride to increased property values.

To date, AIB has engaged nearly 180 communities with a wide range of populations to connect people to plants through education and participation. Combined, these communities represent more than 22 million residents in 38 states. AIB’s eight judging criteria cultivate residents who are interested in plants and landscaping, heritage preservation, environmental awareness, economic development and community spirit.

“I’m excited about the 2010 program because we have assembled the best team of experienced, professional judges in the history of the program,” said Jack Clasen, contest chairman and AIB board member. “Registrations to date have exceeded those in past years, and we’re looking forward to a challenging and exciting competition. Our towns and cities raise the bar of excellence every year.”

You can learn all about America in Bloom, get help to organize your town and register at AIB’s website, www.americainbloom.org. You can also see a list of communities that have already signed up. Registration fee is on a sliding scale based on population size. Visit America in Bloom’s website for more information.
