Hort Couture Participates in Raker Trial GardensSource: Hort Couture

Hort Couture will have its own day in the spotlight at the Raker Trial Gardens for 2010. Hort Couture will be featured from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2010, at the gardens in Litchfield, Mich.

The Raker Trial Gardens evaluate annual and perennial cultivar performance under Midwestern conditions. The gardens’ primary purposes are to introduce and evaluate new varieties in true side-by-side comparison trials, research existing varieties, and share the information we gathered with horticulture professionals and the gardening public.

All trial inputs are sown and stuck by Raker during the months of March and April. This material is transplanted at the end of April. In week 24, all plant material goes to the gardens for evaluation. The Raker finish team, led by Greg Michalak, invests substantial time and effort to ensure the trials are correctly planted and maintained. Trial data is gathered every two weeks beginning in early July.
