MSUE’s Thomas Dudek Earns Recognition for ExcellenceSource: Michigan State University

Thomas Dudek, senior district extension horticulture and marketing educator, has earned the highest level of professional recognition for Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) employees. Known as “Step III,” employees achieving that level need to demonstrate a record of excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and diversity.

Dudek’s work portfolio focused on greenhouse and nursery production in Allegan, Kent, Muskegon, Newaygo and Ottawa counties. His efforts, such as the Michigan Garden Plant Tour, West Michigan nursery grower meetings and plot tours and the Michigan Greenhouse Expo has helped the greenhouse and nursery industries in western Michigan remain competitive and add to the economic viability of Michigan agriculture.

Dudek has been employed by MSU Extenion for 31 years and serves a five county area in west Michigan working with commercial greenhouse and nursery producers.

The Step III level program strives to recognize the high level of academic expertise and experience that extension educators provide Michigan residents through MSUE’s diverse programs and services.
