New Board Members Join ANLA SenateSource: ANLA

The American Nursery & Landscape Association’s (ANLA) Board is made up of regional representatives in addition to the president, president elect and the immediate past president. New Board Members were elected during the annual meeting in Washington, D.C. in late July, and two new members will be joining the board after election by ANLA’s Senate.

Dale Deppe is president of Spring Meadow Nursery, Inc., Grand Haven, Mich., is one of the new members. He has served as the 2006 president of the Horticultural Research Institute (HRI). Deppe said, “Industry firms are sharing less and are more worried about competition than ever before, and as a result, growth in the green industry marketplace is slowing. Firms should be willing to embrace change and growth in order to reap the rewards in the long run.”

The second new board member is Morris Newlin, president and CEO of New Garden Landscaping & Nursery, Inc., Greensboro, N.C. Newlin served as president of ANLA’s Landscape Division Board from 2005 to 2006. During his term, Newlin will work to encourage environmental awareness through recycling initiatives and by practicing responsible pesticide use, water management and plant selection.
