New LED Lighting Book Available

A new book focused on light-emitting diode (LED) lighting for the commercial production of horticultural crops has just been published.

The book, LED Lighting for Urban Agriculture, contains more than 30 chapters written by university experts in Japan, the U.S., China, and Taiwan.led-book-cover

The book is edited by Toyoki Kozai, Kazuhiro Fujiwara, and Erik Runkle and focuses on 1) plant growth and development as affected by the light environment and 2) business and technological opportunities and challenges with LEDs.

LED lighting for urban agriculture includes growing crops indoors in vertical farms as well as in greenhouses. Readers of this book will understand the principles, concepts, design, operation, pros and cons, and costs and potential benefits of LED lighting to produce both food crops and ornamentals.

The book is published by Springer and is available in digital and print versions.
