As if it weren’t difficult enough growing flowers in a greenhouse on solid ground, one American company recently announced its plans to grow flowers on the moon.

Paragon Space Development Corp., an Arizona-based engineering firm, wants to build a functioning greenhouse to fly to the moon by 2014. The company is one of 17 teams competing in the $30 million Google Lunar X Prize contest to send an unmanned lunar rover to the moon.

Scientists are still working on many of the specifics but are optimistic that it can be accomplished. Find out more about the project by clicking here.
