Project EverGreen Launches Outreach Program For TroopsSource: Project EverGreen

Project EverGreen is launching “GreenCare for Troops: Serving You While You Serve Us,” a nationwide outreach program designed to enable local lawn and landscape firms to perform a worthwhile public service for the men and women serving our country overseas in the armed forces.

In announcing the new program, Den Gardner, executive director of Project EverGreen, said, “Lawn and landscape maintenance becomes a definite hardship when a family’s major breadwinner is on active duty overseas. GreenCare for Troops is designed to show our industry’s concern for this situation by setting up a way to provide services to affected families.”

“GreenCare for Troops is a flexible program that can be easily adapted for use by associations, franchisees and independent operations,” Gardner explained. “Equally important, it can be tailored so that when lawn and landscape maintenance help is offered to families there are qualifications and limits that do not become a burden to lawn and landscape contractors.”

According to Gardner, the GreenCare for Troops program is available now at no charge for use by contributors to Project EverGreen. Current contributors to Project EverGreen will receive a kit with information on how to get the most out of this service to our armed service families. Its centerpiece is a special “MissionKit,” complete with marketing and promotional materials as well as a business blueprint for efficiently launching the program in local markets.

“The MissionKit will include many useful items, including tips on how to get publicity for your efforts,” Gardner said. “Lawn and landscape contractors who are not yet part of Project EverGreen may contribute at the $52 level as individuals or donate $1,200 as a company and play a key role in making this program a success nationally.”

“This is an opportunity to show that we’re ready to step up and help,” Gardner said. “We understand that men and women on active duty away from home make financial, as well as emotional sacrifices. Caring for their lawns and landscapes is a tangible way for our industry to ease that burden. Not only that, this program provides an important link to Project EverGreen’s primary mission of informing consumers about the environmental, economic and lifestyle benefits of green spaces.”
