Project EverGreen Raises Money for Troops with Holiday CDSource: Project EverGreen

Project EverGreen and the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation have joined forces in creating a 14-song Christmas CD of traditional favorites as a fundraiser for two of the organizations’ major programs: GreenCare for Troops and Trees for Troops, respectively.

The album, Little Chicago’s A Big EverGreen Christmas, is by a band managed by Project EverGreen’s executive director, Den Gardner, who plays percussion and sings in the band. The 12-piece band, based in New Prague, Minn., headquarters of Project EverGreen, produced the album as a volunteer project. The CDs will be available for a donation of $25 to Project EverGreen.

Proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to support GreenCare for Troops (the free lawn/landscape care service for military families) and Trees for Troops (a program of the National Christmas Tree Association’s nonprofit group, the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation). This year, Trees for Troops will provide more than 15,000 free Christmas Trees to military families.

“Our band was looking for an opportunity to step up and help Project EverGreen and we always wanted to do a Christmas CD,” Gardner said. “We have a former military man in the band — our guitar player — and he embraced this idea with great enthusiasm, and it all rubbed off on the rest of us. It was a great experience for a pair of worthy causes.”

To purchase a CD, visit the Project EverGreen website or the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation website to donate $25 online and download the tracks. Or send a $25 check to:
