Register for SAF’s Congressional Action Days
The clock is ticking. Have you registered yet for the Society of American Florists’ (SAF) Congressional Action Days, taking place Feb. 25-26 in Washington, D.C.?
Many critical issues impacting the floral industry will be coming to the forefront in 2008. “If we don’t act together to safeguard our place at the legislative table, our concerns may not be addressed,” says Kevin Priest, SAF government relations chairman, in a letter posted on the SAF website.
Congressional Action Days provide an organized venue for collective action and lobbying. The event aims to help industry members understand the issues and learn to talk about them personally to bring them home to legislators. Attendees will also get step-by-step professional training and walk into legislative offices together to get a unified message across.
The goal? Make a resounding impact. “When everyone in the floral industry – growers, importers, researchers, retailers, suppliers and wholesalers – speaks with one voice, we create awareness and understanding through Congress that none of us could achieve alone,” Priest says.
With all the buzz of an election year, this is the time to make your concerns heard as an industry.
