The Scotts Company Upgrades Peters A-B-C WebsiteSource: The Scotts Company

Simplification: This was the goal behind the Scotts Company’s recent upgrade of its A-B-C website, the home of the Peters A-B-C Selection System. The enhancements are supposed to make choosing the best water-soluble fertilizer based on water quality and crop type easier than ever before.

Originally launched in July 2007, the Peters A-B-C Selection System is designed to help nursery and greenhouse growers dramatically simplify the often-difficult process of matching water quality and crop types to the best water-soluble fertilizer.

The Selection System produces recommendation to optimize nutrition for a long list of horticultural crops based on four different water types, from low alkalinity (0-60 ppm calcium carbonate) to high alkalinity (240+ ppm calcium carbonate). The Selection System takes the guesswork out of the process by recommending the most appropriate fertilizers, categorized and clearly labeled as “A” (all-purpose) “B” (base) or “C” (customizing).

In addition to hosting the Peters A-B-C Selection System and offering product information, the website now offers a completely new feature – a handy rate calculator. Using an online form, growers can choose either Peters Professional or Peters Excel fertilizer, enter a specific injector ratio and select a preferred ppm of nitrogen. The calculator takes this data and uses it to determine the number of ounces of fertilizer to mix per gallon of water to match the pre-specific nitrogen ppm.

Other enhancements include a broader reach and a faster generating of product recommendations. Information about products specifically for the Canadian market are now included on the website, and growers everywhere can choose from an expanded crop menu within the Selection system, allowing them to find just the right fertilizer for almost any applications. Users can also receive and print their customized product recommendations online immediately after entering their data, rather than having to wait for them to arrive via e-mail.
