SGC Announces Container Garden ContestSource: SGC

Southeast Greenhouse Conference (SGC) will host a Container Garden Contest during this year’s conference and trade show, held June 21-24, 2006. For the past couple of years, the mixed-container demonstrations in SGC’s Garden Center Showcase have drawn very good crowds.

SGC’s Board of Director’s is opening this contest to continue providing the tools needed by garden center owners, greenhouse growers and landscapers as well. Recipe cards will be available during the show for those wishing to replicate the designs in their own businesses.

Registration to participate is free. Prizes will be awarded in two categories: attendee and exhibitor. The first place winner in the attendee category will receive a $500 cash prize, and the first place winner in the exhibitor category will receive “bragging rights” and either a free full-page ad in the 2007 show book or one hotel room at an SGC host hotel for three nights at the 2007 Southeast Greenhouse Conference. First place, second place and an honorable mention also will be awarded in each category (Garden Centers of America will provide the judges for the contest).

Entrants must complete a contest entry form including a container garden recipe that can be distributed and published. Entrants may enter up to three container gardens in the contest; however, an entry form must be completed for each container garden. Entry forms are available at the SGC Web site www.sgcts.org.
