SNA Names Interim Executive Vice PresidentSource: SNA

Last week, the Southern Nursery Association (SNA) named Sam Galloway interim executive vice president of the association, replacing the departing Danny Summers. Galloway began his duties at SNA on Nov. 6.

Galloway comes to SNA after 27 years with the Southern Council of Optometrists, Inc., where he served in a number of capacities. From 1979-2003, Galloway was the executive director of the Southern Council of Optometrists, Inc., where he developed strategic and marketing plans for the elected leadership to approve and was responsible for executing these plans.

Galloway also managed the financial activities for the association, developed strategic and marketing plans for the elected leadership, planned and coordinated business meetings in the United States and abroad, and developed and managed the annual education and trade show event. He was responsible for maintaining all corporate records and maintained a staff of five employees. From 2003 until his retirement in July 2006, Galloway was the director of congress, where he was involved in a number of capacities.

“We are excited to quickly find an experienced interim leader with such a deep skill set, knowledge of the association industry and wealth of contacts that so closely overlap SNA,” SNA President Skeeter McCorkle said. “Sam has the energy and passion to guide SNA’s staff and sustain our important programs while affording our board the time to be thoughtful about next steps.”
