Bob Washburn, Southeast Greenhouse Conference’s (SGC) Board of Directors chairman, recently announced expanded programs for the Southeast Greenhouse Conference. June 22-25, 2005 will bring all areas of the horticulture industry together for a number of new and exciting educational activities in Greenville, S.C.

SGC’s 13th annual show has been dubbed “The Horticultural Summit.” Bringing many aspects together at SGC is a collaborated effort between: SGC, North American Horticultural Supply Association, National Greenhouse Manufacturers Association, Garden Centers of America and a celebration for the 25th anniversary of Fafard’s Anderson, S.C., facility

According to Washburn, the elements that make up the Horticultural Summit coupled with the extensive educational series at SGC make an awesome opportunity for the growers. Washburn went on to say, “As a business owner (PWP Greenhouses in Pall Mall, Tenn.) with staff to train, I am always excited to see over 65 hours of educational choices for $135!”

Educational classes include :

  • Color Knowledge for Landscapers,
  • Basic Greenhouse Skills (for the employee),
  • Propagation workshops,
  • Pesticide classes (continuing educational credit hours are available), and
  • Retail sessions sponsored by Garden Centers of America.

Educational sessions at Southeast Greenhouse Conference are developed based on the feedback from SGC attendees. According to Washburn, the goal of SGC is to offers classes that growers and retailers need to manage their businesses profitability.
