WANTED: Growers’ OpinionsSource: SAF

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) surveys the floral and nursery industry to help determine priorities for research funding. This survey is conducted through the IR-4 project and is intended to help ensure new chemicals are available to address pest and disease problems.

The IR-4 program is funded primarily through USDA’s Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Services (CSREES) and is a major resource for obtaining new and improved chemicals for the floriculture industry.

In October, the Society of American Florists and the American Nursery & Landscape Association will meet with IR-4 to discuss final priorities for 2008 research.

You can help the group to make the right decisions by participating in the survey. It is available online at www.ir4.rutgers.edu/ornamental/Survey/.
