OFA Presents Three Researchers with Alex Laurie AwardSource: OFA - an Association of Horticulture Professionals

Jonathan Franz, Paul Nelson and Matthew Taylor received the OFA Alex Laurie Award on July 11 during the OFA Short Course. Each researcher received an honorarium and an invitation to participate in the 2010 OFA Short Course Program.

The winning papers, “Substrate Acidification by Geranium: Temperature Effects” and “Substrate Acidification by Geranium: Light Effects and Phosphorus Uptake,” were published in the July 2009 issue (pages 508-514 and pages 515-520) of HortScience. All three award winners contributed to the research and authoring the papers.

Jonathan Franz is a research scientist at USDA ARS, in Toledo, Ohio; Paul Nelson is a professor emeritus at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C.; and Matthew Taylor is a research horticulturalist at Longwood Gardens in Kenneth Square, Pa.
