OFA Reaches Out To Industry Organizations
OFA’s board of directors voted last month to identify and pursue opportunities to manage other organizations or events. “OFA has a proven track record of association and event management. We are now in the position to assist those needing this type of support,” said Doug Cole, OFA president. “The goal is to help unify the industry, ensure the most efficient use of resources and help our stakeholders succeed.”
The decision is the result of a yearlong process in which the board challenged itself to be more directly engaged in the organization’s strategic direction. Cole said, “For the past 12 months the board has been transitioning to a knowledge-based decision-making style, designed to ensure volunteer groups are forward thinking in their discussions and decisions.”
Over the past few years, OFA has been approached by various organizations about managing their organizations or events. Because these opportunities continued to arise, it became clear that OFA needed to discuss how it would respond to the service needs of industry related groups and events, said John R. Holmes, OFA’s executive director.
