OFA Teaches Growers How to Profit from PoinsettiasSource: OFA

At a time when margins on poinsettias have been squeezed razor-thin, the OFA – an Association of Floriculture Professionals – is sponsoring a symposium aimed at helping wholesale and retail growers of all sizes rediscover the value in this crop.

During the symposium, “Poinsettias: The Nuts & Bolts and The Dollar & Cents,” taking place Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 13 and 14, at the Paul Ecke Ranch in Encinitas, Calif., experts will offer a better understanding of how to squeeze every last dollar out of the cost of production while growing a top quality crop.

Besides sharing strategies for containing production costs and growing quality crops – and margins – they will introduce new forms and presentations, varieties and specialty programs that can help you reap a great margin for your poinsettia. Still want more? You will also learn about scheduling, temperature, light, nutrition, media, water, height management and diagnostics.

The symposium costs $149 for OFA and SDCFPA members and $179 for nonmembers. The preregistration deadline is Wednesday, Oct. 31.
