Use well-drained medium to coarse-textured growing mixes. Maintain a pH between 5.8 and 6.2. Thoroughly moisten the growing mix with each irrigation or fertigation. Allow plants to dry slightly between waterings.
Good crop growth is obtained with 200- to 250-ppm nitrogen fertigation from a complete N-P-K water-soluble fertilizer. The majority of nitrogen should be in nitrate form. Avoid high ammonia or urea fertilizers that encourage soft, stretched growth. The optimum growing mix EC range is 2.0 to 2.5.
Plants prefer cool, bright conditions with good air circulation. Ideal temperature is 63 to 68° F days and 55 to 60° F nights.
