Fine Americas, Inc., a producer of plant growth regulators, announces the EPA registration of Fresco, a new plant growth regulator for use in commercial lily production.
Fresco is labeled for direct foliar sprays on Easter lilies (Lilium longiflorum), LA Hybrid lilies ( L. longiflorum -Asiatic crosses), and Oriental lilies. Its active ingredients are Gibberellins A4/A7 (1.8 percent) and N-(phenylmethyl)-1H-purine-6-amine (1.8 percent).
“We are extremely pleased to provide Fresco to lily growers in the U.S.,” explains Greg Johnson, vice president of sales and marketing for Fine Americas. “It will enable them to produce a higher quality crop, and as a result, it helps produce a more profitable crop.”
When applied directly to lower leaves as a preventive measure, Fresco delays leaf yellowing and necrosis. It may also be used to delay flower senescence when applied to flower buds.
Fresco can be applied early and midway through the production cycle to reduce lower leaf yellowing. When applied later in production, Fresco has been shown effective in reducing leaf yellowing and in prolonging flowering during and after shipment. When applied according to label instructions, this treatment will provide up to 14 days protection from yellowing and 25 percent longer flower life.
Fresco is available through distributors across the United States. For more information, call (888) 474-3463, or visit www.fine-americas.com .
