The Society of American Florists (SAF) is accepting nominations for its annual awards, which honors those who have demonstrated dedication and commitment to the floral industry. The 2007 awards deadline is Feb. 1, 2007.
This year’s awards will be presented at SAF Palm Springs 2007, SAF’s 123rd annual convention, Sept. 26-29, in Palm Springs, Calif. There are several awards categories available.
SAF members must nominate themselves to be considered for induction into either of the following programs:
The American Academy of Floriculture. Recognizes industry members that meet the academy’s standards of service to the industry and community.
Professional Floral Communicators-International. Signifies achieved excellence in floral presentation and communication.
SAF members can either be nominated by others or nominate themselves for the following awards:
Floriculture Hall of Fame. Honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of floriculture.
Paul Ecke, Jr. Award. Recognizes exemplary devotion to the profession, industry and community.
Gold Medal Award. Honors the originator of a widely distributed plant or flower that has become established as an outstanding product.
John H. Walker Award. Recognizes floral association executives for their roles as leaders in the industry.
Century Award. Any industry that has served the floral industry for 100 years or longer qualifies for this award.
Alex Laurie Award for Research and Education. Presented to an individual who has made long-lasting contributions to research or education.
Tommy Bright Award.Presented to a member of the Professional Floral Communicators-International who has demonstrated a lifetime commitment.
